Pioneering Aviator Laid to Rest at ANC
On June 14, 2024, Capt. Judith Neuffer Bruner was laid to rest in Section 83 of Arlington National Cemetery. Neuffer was a pioneering aviator in the U.S. Navy when she became the first woman to fly solo in an aircraft and the first to become a P-3 pilot in the Navy. One of the first women to qualify as a naval aviator in 1973, Neuffer logged several thousands of hours piloting the P-3. She was the first woman P-3 aircraft commander and the first woman to pilot an aircraft through the eye of a hurricane. She retired from the Navy in 1998 after 28 years of service. She went on to serve at NASA under a variety of assignments. We honor her service. (U.S. Army video by Daryl Vaca)

Beautiful ceremony! Rest in peace and thank you for your service to our Nation.
Honor & Respect
I am from Clark County, Ohio. Springfield is our county seat. My dad was born and raised in Springfield. And when he was in junior high school, he would go downtown for lunch and eat with James Richard Ward. My dad was drafted into the army and served as an aircraft armorer on B-29s. He told me about Ward's heroism. A marker on the WWII mound at Ferncliff Cemetery has been dedicated to him for years.
Very touching to honor a fallen aviator who served so well. However, she was not the first woman to fly solo as stated in the description. Not even close as that occurred decades before her.
If you ever have the opportunity to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I can assure you it is a memorable experience.
A pioneer in every sense of the word. May she always have blue skies
I'm so proud to say that this wonderful lady is my Aunt Judy. I was honored to be in attendance at this wonderful ceremony. She was also honored by Goddard Space Center later that afternoon. Love and miss you, Aunt Judy.
They look like robots. Pointless.
How disrespectful of the cemetery tour shuttle to drive past.
Thank you for your service!
Thank you for your service!
Thank you for your service! May you rest in peace!
Amazing are government thinks more of us when we're dead then when we are alive isn't that amazing, they should be thinking about us both ways not just when we're dead.
GODSPEED THANK YOU 🇺🇲
guarding the graves of people that killed millions of innocent civilians in the name of "freedom" isnt as honorable as you think it is
ABeautifull ceremony for a courageous Lady!,
I was in the Air Force when he died in 1968 😢 I never saw his flag uniform nor did it all go to his sisters he got buried Tx. 😢 I live in AZ not one of his family goes to visit 😭
Thank you for your Service! Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate. My Hero!
Military worship is s weird.
Massimo rispetto da un ex militare italiano.❤
I have friends there in section 60. KIA in Iraq. 🇺🇸
As a 66 year old Navy veteran that brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for your service
I see he’s trying to hold back the tears, thank you for your service.
The guards are awesome. What an honor it is to guard the Tomb. What honor the guards show our fallen.
Rest now. And thank you.
Love for the fallen ❤️ 💕 💙 thanks
This level of discipline from a rogue nation is astonishing
When I went to the Arlington Cementary, I could feel the magnitude of the space. It's a special place, and one should always be respectful of those standing guard. This is a beautiful presentation with such dignity. Congrats to the soldier.
I understand the importance of doing this ceremony but was it really necessary to put that obnoxious music over the video!
That's what I'm saying! It'd be more respectful and solemn if all you could hear was the footsteps and voices.
❤
Was the priest at 03:58 part of the military ? He is vested as a Catholic priest. This was a beautiful, moving ceremony. The folding of the flag with "America the Beautiful" is very intense. RIP, Army Chief of Staff, Gordon Sullivan.
This balance between seriousness and naturalness is something that I believe we could learn from Americans. from Korea
Was the General immediately on the French soldier's left ? Who was the American soldier on the end left? Was this a Veteran's Day wreath laying ?
Rest now Hero, and thank you for your service to our nation.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE! That was beautiful.

Honoring America's fallen. Note the living recipients in several ceremonies honoring their predecessors sacrifice.

RIP Ma'am. Thank you for your service.
You know this is only done by Army or Marines.
As an Air Force Veteran I am proud to see one of our own as Miss America. As a Veteran I am proud to see this proud and proper Lieutenant pop to and Salute as Taps is played as is proper for any service member, in or out of uniform. She represents us all very well.

Great. My grandfather Fred was a pilot in the first world War.
Thank you for your service.
War is such a waste
Thanks, so much. Interestingly, I wondered when & if: the US ARMY Armed Guards use their Firearms in a “ lethal force” ,at THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER since installation?
